Are the classes taught in English?
Yes. All classes at English Dance Academy are taught in English. We are an English-speaking dance school in Vienna.
All of our teachers also speak German and can assist children and parents in German when needed. This makes our classes welcoming for Austrian families as well as international and expat families.
Many families choose English Dance Academy as a natural and playful way for children to be exposed to English while dancing, moving, and having fun.
What ages can join the children’s dance classes?
Our children’s dance classes in Vienna are available for different age groups, starting with toddlers in Adventures in Dance and continuing through older children in our ballet, contemporary, musical theatre, popdance, and tap classes.
Do children need previous dance experience?
No, previous dance experience is not required for many of our children’s dance classes. English Dance Academy in Vienna offers beginner-friendly classes as well as classes for more experienced young dancers.
Is English Dance Academy only about dance classes?
No. English Dance Academy is about much more than dance — we are a community and consider ourselves a family.
Throughout the year, we organise a variety of special events and workshops, some open to the wider community and others exclusively for EDA families. These may include:
- Easter egg hunts
- Fasching celebrations
- Halloween and Christmas parties
- Movie nights
- Games evenings
- Dance and musical theatre workshops, including K-Pop, Contemporary, Repertoire
- Family workshops, including Yoga Family and Yoga Kids and Family Move
- Community Cafes

Do you offer camps or workshops during the year?
Yes. English Dance Academy runs Musical Theatre Summer Camps, which are one-week camps for children aged 6 years and above. These camps combine dance, drama, singing, and creativity in a fun and supportive environment.
We also offer workshops and special events throughout the year. Details are shared with families and published on our website and social media channels.
Do you assess students or offer assessments?
Yes. At English Dance Academy, we work on class-based assessments throughout the year to support each child’s individual development and progress.
For students who wish to take part, we also offer formal assessments as part of our programme. Participation is optional and designed to celebrate personal achievement, build confidence, and recognise each student’s growth in a positive and encouraging way.
Do students perform in shows or productions?
Yes. English Dance Academy puts on a bi-annual full school production at a local theatre, giving students the opportunity to perform on stage as part of a professional production.
Our next full school show is scheduled for January 2027. Participation details are shared with families in advance.
Pupils also perform in smaller events, such as the Christmas Party or Summer Showcases.

Is there a uniform for children’s classes?
Yes. All children’s classes at English Dance Academy have a set uniform. This helps create a sense of belonging, focus, and equality within each class.
Uniform items can be purchased directly through English Dance Academy once your child is settled into their class. We are always happy to advise families on sizing and requirements.
Do you offer trial classes?
Yes. English Dance Academy offers trial classes at any time during the semester, subject to space availability.
Trial classes are offered at a reduced rate of €15 (including VAT).
Please note that Musical Theatre courses are an exception — trial classes for these courses are only available up to week 2 of a new semester, due to the structured nature of the classes.
After the trial class:
- Children’s classes are payable via the semester fee
- Adult and adult-assisted classes can be booked using a 10-class block card
